APPRENTICESHIP
ATTENTION: Contractors in Apprenticeship Training Program

The State of Delaware Department of Apprenticeship and Training has been visiting apprenticeship sponsors and making them aware of a federal guideline that ensures you have an approved Affirmative Action Plan and Selection Procedures for apprentices.

This federal guideline applies to all contractors who are sponsors of the state apprenticeship program and employ 5 or more apprentices. Each sponsor must keep records in accordance with the regulations at 29CFR 29.6, 30.4, 30.5 and 30.8. Federal contractors with 50 or more employees and $50,000 or more in government contracts during any 12-month period are also required to have an Affirmative Action Plan. The guidelines for EEO Compliance include the following information:

• Sponsor’s Program Records
• Announcement of Apprenticeship Opportunities
• Applicant Log(s)
• Applicant Records
• Apprentice Applicant List
• Apprentice Records
• Journey Worker Statistics

During the summer of 2006, the federal Department of Labor will be visiting Delaware and randomly inspecting apprenticeship sponsors to make sure they are in compliance with these guidelines. ABC Board of Directors recently voted to help our members comply with the federal regulation.
