The Green Building Education Commercial Training Program presents sustainable construction in a holistic way – exposing contractors, trades-people, engineers, and architects to a progressive system that builds upon their knowledge base of construction. Information is presented in a logical order as one would build a building – and it is complementary to the LEED® system. Trainees receive an essential “understanding” and a level of familiarity with LEED®, its credit intents, requirements, costs and benefits by presenting it as an integral part of the construction process. It is important to note that LEED® was initially developed for the design community and therefore does not intuitively connect with the construction audience. Presenting LEED® as a “vehicle” to achieve a green building has proven to be one of the most successful aspects of this training program. The final product is designed to prepare trainees for the Green Advantage Certification Exam. Taking the Exam is a separate process and must be scheduled and paid directly at www.greenadvantage.org
