The Charter Cup was started in 1986 and this is presented annually to the ABC contractor member who exemplifies the true meaning of the Merit Shop philosophy and has contributed to the success of the association.
This year's winner is Michael Berardi of Nason Construction Company. Mike speaks loud and clear for the merit shop. His company is a 20-year member of the association. He has served on the Board of Directors on 3 separate occasions and held every office in the association including Chairman of the Board in 1998. He also served a 3 year term on the ABC National Board of Directors.
Mike has served on the Legislative Committee, the Legal Rights and Strategy committee The Public Relations committee and the General Contractor committee. His company has always been an active participant at ABC events in addition to sponsoring numerous events.
He has always been one of the first members to step up on legislative matters, whether it is prevailing wage, state pre-qualification or union only Project Labor Agreements. He was instrumental in the formation of the ABC Merit Shop Political Action Committee, a committee that contributes to political candidates in Delaware who support ABC and the merit shop philosophy.
He has been a strong supporter and contributor of both our local Political Action committee and our national Political Action committee which help elect pro-merit shop legislators.
Finally, he has also encourages his employees to get involved. One of his employees will serve as chair of ABC Partnering committee and many other employees have served on various committees in the association.
Mike truly embodies the spirit of ABC and is well deserving of this award.
