"We heard good comments from the vendors and the visitors," said ABC Delaware President Ed Capodanno. "Thanks to everyone who purchased a booth and turned out to support this event, despite the troubled economy. The Future Leaders Committee held its first meeting of 2010 with guest speaker Michael Sigman of Journey Leader discussing social networking and customer service in troubled economic times.
Sigman discussed the importance of expanding your comfort zone and learning a new skills with social media and how you can keep in touch with current customers while reaching out to new. In his list of tips, he reminded attendees that while learning new skills is important, it is just as important to not abandon other forms of communication. Nothing can replace face to face contact or picking up the phone, he reviewed, but keeping up to date is very important.
In other business, Future Leader Co-Chair Rob Belfiore shared the results of the recent survey and upcoming events for this year. An evening of networking with a short seminar, such as the February 18 program, and the site visits to construction projects, as well as the golf clinic, topped the survey as favorite programs.
The next Future Leaders event is set for March 25 with a jobsite tour and networking at the soon-to-be-completed Rest Area on 1-95 between Route 273 & 896, near the Maryland border, followed by networking at Delaware Park. For details, contact Jean Toman at jtoman@abcdelaware.com.
On the eve of a huge winter storm, more than 160 ABC Delaware members and guests turned out at Cavaliers Country Club for an evening of hot food and good fun.
